Have you tried playing the web version in full screen? The middle mouse button on web would enter scrolling mode and eat your inputs, but works when in full screen (or in the standalones).
I admitted defeat at the double-door-single-cube puzzle. Very impressive, though. I did encounter one bug that killed me when passing through a portal just behind a cube I pushed through when the portal was up on a wall. Maybe I ended up between it and the wall as we fell, and it crushed me? Happened more than once at the same spot.
Well done - you could have totally moved away from Celeste and stick more to the Portal look, but good job anyway.
Couple of comments:
- ESDF + mouse works well - slightly awkward for jumping precisely
- as other pointed, the portal physic appears to be broken when you move into a portal (e.g the player will instantly go "back"). 2d makes it impossible (unless you flip the screen when getting out of a portal to keep momentum and keyboard aligned!!)
- music is a bit "depressing" (?) RubyRed I know you can do better :]
Staying close to Celeste was an artifact from this starting out as some high effort joke where I snuck a portal gun into Celeste Classic, and with all the people helping out being from that game's community. It gets somewhat tied with the Celeste Classic lore eventually to somewhat justify the theme. :P
I see what you mean about the physics- I couldn't find a very satisfactory solution and largely based it on this really old 2D Portal game made in Flash which controlled and behaved similarly. Perhaps some short frame window where controls are flipped upon exiting a portal?

woah... very cool game, a combination of two of my favourite games! cool puzzles too
how do u get the core in the room with 2 doors, i just would like to know how to get portal on floor, so no vid if u want, image works
could you make it playable with arrow keys, esdf is kinda weird ngl
how do you beat this?
huh, cool! thanks!
I'm going to be 100 with you. Make the default controls wasd
The current controls are a PICO-8 limitation.
This is so good. Combo of two stellar games, and it has the best parts of both of them. Reminds me of Portal 2D a lot.
whaaaat
it's 'pc gamer'
Why sdfe? You have fried the wires in my brain.
The game was made with PICO-8, those are just the buttons the console uses.
usually i see it with arrow keys
i cant play on my chromebook
maybe if you make a hotkey to switch portals that would be better for devices that arent mouse accesible
Right click on chromebook by clicking with two fingers at once
i use Chromebook too, but i learned if i wanna have a good time on itch, then you just gotta buy a mouse, they're fairly cheap, at around 15$-5$
how does the confrontation level work? I'm stuck.
You have to escort the shiny object to the character who normally uses said object :)
box?
Nah the shiny thing's at the bottom left
well, I figured out how to open the door but I don't know how to get back to the door.
wow very nice
can you include the Pico 8 cart image
The cart's available on the PICO-8 BBS here, but I'll add it to the downloads too :)
thx
yay I did it!
i love the Reconstructing Science demake in the begining
I love everything about this.
shows that everything is better with portals! impressive feat
Hiii, I've made a video about the game and wanted to share some feedback about it with you, hopefully it is useful to you ^^
-I loved the gameplay mechanics, they are really well implemented with the level design.
-The visual style is really well done and fits perfectly the theme of the game :)
-You really nailed the "portal" vibes ^^
Hopefully this is useful to you :D, also if you could subscribe that would help me a lot :)
Regards
I played the web version And i couldn't move at any time the poratls work but i couldn't move

thank you that fixed the issue its a great game
really nice work! I reached the penguin sign, and now I’m suddenly considering what sort of speedrun possibilities that tech opens up…
If you reach the summit with 6/6 of the cores, there might be something with that sign. ;)
👀

I also second the need for clearer exits.
a nice little game! i really enjoyed my time. I would have liked wasd and jumping with space a bit more.

The momentum seems to decrease when you enter a portal, so the basic mechanic is lost to me.
I got to a level with Companion Cubes and couldn't proceed. Also, I realised the levels need a clearly defined exit.
I`m pretty sure you need to go up at this part( with more momentum)
Yeah, I eventually figured that out. I was right about needing clearly defined exits.
the left mouse and right mouse buttons are switched by default. is there a way to fix this?
Have you tried the standalone versions? Otherwise it shouldn't affect things much if orange and blue portals are revered. :P
ok
pooooog, nice demake. 8/10
